About

Built here. Answered here.

The Managed Desk is an Australian technology business. We build and run a service management platform for Australian organisations — clinics, councils, schools, professional firms — and the person who answers your call is the person who knows your setup.

Who you are dealing with

An Australian platform, built to scale.

The Managed Desk builds and runs its own platform. There is no offshore script, no reseller in the middle and no parent company to escalate past — the people who engineer the product are the people who answer your questions, and the entity behind it is on the public registers before you ever speak to us.

The platforms Australian organisations get offered are usually one of two things: enterprise software that needs an enterprise rollout, or a ticketing tool that was never designed for assets, licences or reporting. The Managed Desk was built for the gap in between — everything a service desk needs, without a six-month implementation.

How we work

Simple · Professional · Reliable · Modern

Four words that sit behind the brand and behind the product decisions. They are a constraint, not a slogan — each one tells us what to leave out.

Simple

If a feature needs a training session to justify itself, it is not finished. The desk should be usable by someone who has never seen a ticket queue.

Professional

Answer, update, resolve. Anyone can see who is doing what and when, and nothing closes without a record of what actually happened.

Reliable

Backups, published response targets and a service that behaves the same on a Tuesday afternoon as it did in the demo.

Modern

AI and automation where they genuinely remove work — and nowhere else. A suggestion nobody trusted would be worse than no suggestion at all.

Standards, in writing

What you can hold us to.

Australian hosted, MFA everywhere, role-based access, ITIL-aligned process, no lock-in and full export of your data. The security model is documented to the level a reviewer needs, and the pack goes out with the demo rather than after a sales cycle.

The security pack

  • The access and tenancy model, in plain English
  • A data-flow diagram: what leaves the platform, and where it goes
  • The subprocessor list, with each one's role
  • Incident response: who is called, and in what order

Ask during the demo and it is in your inbox the same day. The isolation test is shown live, not described.

On the record

The facts, and the evidence behind them.

Everything a buyer can check, in one place, next to the evidence for it. If something here changes, the page changes with it.

What can be checked

  • Australian entity — The Managed Desk · Melbourne, Australia. Australian-owned and operated, on infrastructure inside the country.
  • Hosted in Australia — Hosted in Australia. Your records do not leave the country for hosting.
  • One desk, not a stack — Service management, asset management, knowledge, automation and reporting share one data model. There is no middleware to reconcile.
  • No lock-in — No lock-in contract, and full export of your records in an open format at any time.

What we commit to

  • 24×7 support, answered by Australian engineers rather than an outsourced queue.
  • Unlimited end users, Australian hosting, SSO and MFA included in every plan.
  • Full export of your records in an open format, whenever you ask — including the day you leave.
  • No lock-in contract, and stopping at any stage is a normal outcome rather than a breach.
  • Your tickets and documents are never used to train public or shared AI models.
  • A written scope with named owners on both sides before any work starts.
How we work

Staged, written, and stoppable at every point.

The way we run an engagement is the same way the platform is built: a defined stage, evidence that it worked, and a decision point before the next one starts.

Written before built

Scope, exclusions, owners and dates are agreed in writing before work starts. If it is not in the scope, it is not assumed to be included.

Tested before claimed

Features are exercised, not announced. What is live runs on every instance; what is still rolling out is marked preview.

Stoppable at any stage

Demo, scope, migration, go-live. Each one is a stop point, and stopping is a normal outcome rather than a breach.

Direct engineering access

You deal with the people who build the platform. On the managed option, a named technical account manager is in the agreement.

Your data, in your hands

Full export in an open format at any time, including on the day you decide to leave. No lock-in contract.

Accountable by name

An Australian business you can look up before you buy — the entity is on the public register.

The business

The gap we built for.

Service management platforms are sold to organisations with a team to run them. Everyone else — the clinic group, the council, the firm with one IT person — ends up with a spreadsheet, an inbox, and a supplier who bills by the ticket. That gap is the business, and it is not a small one.

The engineering is unglamorous on purpose: one data model, one record per request, a service catalogue built around how the organisation actually works, and reporting that arrives without anyone assembling it. The routine work — password resets, how-do-I questions, licence checks — is answered from the customer's own records before it reaches a person, and every suggestion carries the record it came from.

We are an Australian platform company. The engineers who build the product are the people who answer the questions about it, and the same team runs the desk for customers who would rather not staff one. Our claims are written to survive a written evaluation against a scoring matrix, because that is how Australian public-sector work is decided — and it is a discipline that keeps a product honest long after the demo.
